Features

One ordinary day, one task at a time.

Follow a day with a wandering mind. At each moment where a planner usually gets put down, here’s what Quadrants does about it.

Watch the Now slot at the bottom of your screen. Like the app, it never holds more than one task.

Features without a label are free. Pro is part of the paid plan. Soon is on the way.

  1. 7:40 am

    On the bus

    Six thoughts before your stop.

Renew passport. Oat milk. Reply to Jordan. If saving one takes more than a second, it’s gone by the next stop.

    • One tray for everything

Type it and press Enter. It lands in Unsorted, with no folders, tags or deciding yet.

    • Voice brain dumpProSoon

Say all six at once. AI splits them into separate tasks in your tray. Three a month on Free.

    • ChatGPT, Claude or any MCP clientPro

Already talking to an assistant? It can add, move, complete and schedule your tasks for you.

    • Capture from anywhereProSoon

Siri, iOS Shortcuts, the share sheet, or forward an email to your own Quadrants address.

In Now: nothing. Everything waits in Unsorted until you choose.

  2. 9:15 am

    At your desk

Twenty things, one place to start.

A long list turns every spare minute into a decision. The board asks one question instead: where does this go?

    • Four places that never move

Now, This week, Daily and Someday. You always know where something lives.

    • Now holds one task

Not three, not a short list. The next step is never a decision you have to make again.

    • Focus modeSoon

Hide everything except your Now task and the timer. One key turns it on and off.

    • Now in your browser tabSoon

Your Now task shows in the tab title, so it stays in view behind everything else.

In Now: Write the proposal. One task. Nothing else asks for attention.

  3. 9:22 am

    Still at your desk

    The proposal feels impossible.

The doc is still closed. Big tasks don’t need more willpower. They need to be smaller and shorter.

    • 5 and 7 minute sprints

Short enough to say yes to. The timer survives a refresh and ends with a quiet visual cue, never an alarm.

    • A timer you can seeSoon

A ring that shrinks as time passes, for brains that don’t feel minutes going by.

    • Make it smallerProSoon

AI turns your Now task into one tiny first step you can start right away.

    • Your own sprint lengthsProSoon

Pick any length and add an optional soft chime. Silent stays the default.

In Now: Open a blank doc and type the title. Made smaller. A 5 minute sprint is running.

  4. 11:05 am

    The phone rings

The bank needs a call back today.

Something urgent lands in the middle of the flow. Most lists make you choose. Quadrants makes room.

    • Drop it into Now

The new task takes Now. The one you were on moves to the top of This week, waiting for you when you’re done. Nothing gets lost.

In Now: Call the bank back. “Open a blank doc…” moved to the top of This week.

  5. 2:10 pm

    Between things

    A call at three, somehow.

Time blindness is real. Red overdue badges only add shame on top of it.

    • Give a task a time

Add a date, time and length from the task’s menu. It keeps its place on the board.

    • Calendar tab

Your scheduled tasks by day, or by week on a bigger screen, with a line marking right now.

    • Google Calendar syncProSoon

Scheduled tasks appear in Google Calendar too, with an optional Meet link.

In Now: Prep notes for the 3:00 call. Scheduled 2:30–2:50. No deadline, no red.

  6. 9:40 pm

    On the sofa

A good idea, on the wrong device.

Ideas show up on your phone. Work happens on your laptop. Both need the same board.

    • Sync on every device

Quadrants runs in your browser on phone, tablet and laptop. Free, with no device limit.

    • Now widgetProSoon

Your one task on your phone’s home screen and lock screen. Out of sight stops meaning out of mind.

    • Light and dark

Light for daytime planning, dark for evenings like this one.

    • Extra themes and app iconsProSoon

      Make it feel like yours.

In Now: Write the proposal. Waiting for tomorrow. The idea went to Unsorted.

  7. Ten days later

    You come back

You didn’t open it for ten days.

This is where most planners get abandoned. Coming back to a stale list feels worse than starting over.

    • Fresh startSoon

Away for a week or more? Move everything except Now to Someday in one tap and begin from a clean board.

    • Let goSoon

Some tasks stop mattering. Let one go without pretending you did it, and without deleting it.

    • Done is never gone

Checked tasks wait in Completed. Restore one and it goes back to the end of your tray.

    • A small “done” momentSoon

A quick, satisfying tick when you finish something. No points, no streaks.

In Now: Write the proposal. Still here. Still one thing.

Left out, on purpose.

Most task apps ask you to organize before you can start. These parts aren’t in Quadrants, on any plan.

  • Tags & labels
  • Priority colors
  • Streaks
  • Productivity charts
  • Overdue red badges
  • Nagging notifications

The board is free. Pro goes further.

Everything without a Pro label is free, for good. Quadrants is invite-only for now, and features marked Soon are on the way.
